About

Steven Jones

Product leader. AI builder. Coach.
Founder of theProductPath.

I founded theProductPath in 2015 to work with early-stage startups and growth-stage B2B software companies — guiding them through the many challenges of creating great products and successfully bringing them to market.

As a seasoned Product and Technology executive, I bring 20+ years of hands-on experience leading B2B and SaaS product development at every stage of the lifecycle — from discovery and concept through go-to-market launch and operations.

In 2025, I went deep into AI — not as a reader, but as a builder. Today, I work across 9 AI tools daily, building production data pipelines for clients, designing multi-agent systems, creating purpose-built applications with AI coding assistants, and developing frameworks for teaching non-technical people to build with AI. I bring both decades of product leadership and cutting-edge AI practice to every engagement.

How I Work

"I stay until the system works without me."

I don't hand off strategy decks and disappear. I embed with teams, build real systems, coach real people, and stay engaged until the work is self-sustaining.

"Milestone-first, always."

Every engagement is structured around clear milestones with explicit validation points and stakeholder sign-offs. No ambiguity about what "done" looks like.

"The best outcome is when your people grow into the work."

Coaching isn't a side offering — it's central. Whether I'm helping a first-time PM or guiding a Head of Product, developing people is the point.

"Build it. Ship it. Burn it."

Sometimes the best tool is one you delete when you're done. Small, modular, purpose-built systems over giant all-in-one setups — for clients and for myself.

Community

For over 8 years, I've created and facilitated PM Peers — a private product management community providing a safe space for Chicago-area product professionals to share challenges, learn from each other, and grow their craft. This ongoing community leadership reflects my deep commitment to the PM profession and local professional development.

Let's work together

I'd love to hear about what you're building.
